The sex of a turtle can be defined authentically only after execution of 6-8 years by her. To this age length of its armor has to be more than 10 centimeters. 1. Take several individuals overlandof turtles of one age and compare length of their tails: at mature individuals the tail of a male is much longer than a tail of a female. Also the tail of a male is usually bent under an armor, and the armor over a tail is deflexed. This feature inherent in males of the Central Asian turtles, often is not pleasant to their owners as such form of an armor promotes spreading on a floor (turtles are often released freely to creep on the apartment) products of their activity.
2. Look at a plastron form (a plastron call a flat belly board of a tortoise shell). If at females the plastron has a plain surface (sometimes even slightly convex), then at males the plastron is considerably bent inside. It is necessary for males in order that during pairing the plastron would not prevent the best contact and the male could keep on the girlfriend's armor.
3. Look at distance between a back part of a belly board (plastron) and a back board of an armor (carapace). At males such distance is less, than at females.
4. Attentively examine jaws of a turtle. Jaws at females are usually more developed, than at males.
5. Pay attention to the turtle size. The vast majority of types overland skulls has mature males much less females.
6. Turn a turtle a plastron up and look at a foul place form. The foul place of a male of the Central Asian turtle has the longitudinal form, females – a form of a flower of a camomile or an asterisk.
7. Pay attention to length of claws. Males of krasnoukhy turtles have longer claws, than a female. It is necessary for them for stroking of females during courting and deduction at the time of pairing.
8. Color of eyes - one more sign. Females of marsh turtles have eyes of yellow color, at males their color is close to brown or dark brown.
9. Look at whether the turtle has hillocks on an armor. At trionex the adult males have a smooth armor, and at adult females the armor is covered with hillocks. Approximately after three-year age the males already possess a long tail with the light strip going along all tail.
