How to treat the wound to a dog

If the pet was wounded, the good owner has to show him to the veterinarian. However in certain cases at slight injuries it is possible to manage and by own efforts. If a wound extensive, then the dog has to give first aid prior to a trip.

It is required to you

  • - dressings;
  • - plait;
  • - boiled water;
  • - peroxide of hydrogen or potassium permanganate;
  • - brilliant green or iodine.

Instruction

1. Bleeding is different, and the way of a stop of blood depends on their intensity. On a muzzle, fingers, brushes of paws there are no large veins and arteries which injury could threaten animal life therefore the usual bandage will help to stop the bleeding. If large vessels are damaged, hard bandaging not to manage here, it is necessary to impose to a dog a plait (that does not cancel bandaging of the wound). In the summer the plait can be imposed on an hour and a half, in the winter – on three and a half. This time has to be enough to be in time to the veterinarian.

2. If bleeding is insignificant, or you managed to stop it independently, start further processing. Accurately shave wool around the injured place. It is necessary to make it in order that hairs did not get to an open wound and did not cause an infection and suppuration.

3. Wash a wound with warm boiled water, especially if dirt, splinters, the earth, branches got to it. Then the wound should be washed with solution of peroxide of hydrogen or weak solution of permanganate of potassium (potassium permanganate) of gentle-pink color.

4. Grease edges of a wound with iodine or brilliant green. At the same time you remember that only skin around a wound, but not the damaged surface has to be exposed to processing.

5. Impose a sterile gauze napkin on a wound and redress. For reliability the bandage can be fixed by special mesh bandage.
