How often the test for pregnancy "lies"

As a rule, the woman begins to suspect that she is pregnant to a periods delay. The house test for pregnancy is a treasured opportunity to learn a situation. What disappointment if it yields false positive or false-negative result. Alas, the error, though is small, but exists.

Instruction

1. Action of house tests for pregnancy is based on measurement of level of hormone HGP (horionichesky gonadotrophin of the person) in urine. This hormone is called still hormone of pregnant women. It begins to be emitted with fetal egg after its implantation in a uterus cavity which occurs in 7-10 days after fertilization of an ovum. HGCh gets to blood and through kidneys in mother's urine. If the woman is pregnant, then by the beginning of the following cycle the level of hormone can reach already 25 Mme/ml. The antibodies to HGCh helping to define presence of hormone in volume of 25 and more than a Mme/ml are applied on surfaces of the test.

2. Tests are tablet, jet, electronic and in the form of test strips. Test strips (to 10% of cases), and the most minimum - tablet tests give the biggest error (up to 1% of cases). The reliability of test results in the first day of a delay of menstruation averages 90±5%, and in 7 days of a delay – 94-100% when accounting the correct use. Tablet and electronic tests - the most expensive, but at the same time the error of these tests comes down to 0.01% and even less. Often responsibility for false result lies on the user, so many women substandardly satisfy test conditions.

3. That the test for pregnancy did not tell lies, it is necessary to follow the following conditions: 1. wait for morning to collect the first urine when concentration of HGCh in urine is highest; 2. you watch that water did not get to urine; 3. check whether the expiration date at a test system expired; 4. you carry out the test from the 1st day of a delay of periods as on very small term the test can yield false-negative result; 5. using test strips, do not lower the test more deeply than the specified line and do not undertake fingers that part of the test on which the reactant is applied.

4. If you have any pathology of kidneys or a tumor, then the test can mistakenly yield positive result. The same situation can occur if you take the hormonal drugs. If on the test two strips were shown, but one of them pale or is hardly looked through, then the result can be considered positive, but, most likely, the maintenance of HGCh in urine quite low. It can demonstrate to extra-uterine pregnancy when the fruit was attached in not put place, for example, in a uterine tube, in a neck of the uterus or in an abdominal cavity. The test can also yield false-negative result if there is a threat of an abortion on the small term of pregnancy.
