Intertrigo - the frequent phenomenon at small children. They cause uneasy behavior of the child, crying, and in the absence of treatment can have consequences in the form of infections. But why an intertrigo arises?
Intertrigo at the child call inflammatory processes on skin which can arise because of the increased friction and long influence of moisture. Doctors distinguish three degrees of an intertrigo: on the first skin just slightly reddens, on the second its integrity is broken – there are erosion, microcracks, and on the third degree at the expressed redness there are becoming wet cracks, gnoynichka, ulcers. All this hurts the child, he often cries and becomes uneasy.
The medicine knows a set of the reasons for development of an intertrigo, but as the most frequent are considered:
- influence of excrements on skin;
- friction;
- misuse disposable diaper;
- allergy;
- overheating;
- the wrong leaving during change of a diaper;
- influence of food;
- developing of an infection;
- food intolerance.
Usually an intertrigo appears in skin folds – inguinal, axillary, cervical, mezhjyagodichny and in the bottom of a stomach. The child at the same time feels not only pain, at him skin is burned down and itches. And the intertrigo as if not to make it, sites of the affected skin will increase needs to treat and there will be an infection.
Influence of excrements on skin
Frequent urination and depletion of intestines is characteristic of small children, however it influences skin not in the best way. The fact is that moisture when there is too much it, destroys a protective barrier of skin, removing its natural lubricant. And when it comes to urine as a part of which there is uric acid and salts at destruction forming ammonia the situation worsens even more.

Friction
Skin of babies is sensitive, it is easy to break its integrity, and the damaged sites become much more susceptible to an adverse effect of urine and a calla. Therefore it is so undesirable that the diaper or clothes grated skin.
Most often, friction is caused by synthetic things and clothes with seams inside. The clothes from natural soft fabrics on which seams are made outside are suitable for the small child better.
Misuse of disposable diapers
Qualitative diapers, in itself, are rather effective measure for fight against an intertrigo. They quickly absorb urine, without allowing its contact with skin, so, and development of irritation.
But the disposable diaper, according to rules of use, needs to be changed every 3 hour and after defecation. It is necessary because, having overflowed, the diaper loses the absorbing properties: urine is not absorbed and adjoins to skin of the kid, leads to irritation and an intertrigo.
Allergy
Intertrigo can appear and as result of allergic reaction. Most often, it arises on chemical compounds which use in fragrances for disposable diapers or laundry detergents.
Quite often the allergy develops also on cosmetics (powders, lotions, creams, napkins, etc.), especially if in their structure there are following hazardous substances:
- synthetic oils;
- dyes;
- parabens;
- oil processing products.
These substances also are dangerous to the adult, and to the baby – especially. And to exclude risk of an allergy and an intertrigo, it is only better to use cosmetics natural on a vegetable basis.
Overheating
If the child often is in the room where too hot, or he is dressed excessively warmly, he begins to sweat more. The amount of moisture on skin becomes too big that leads to irritation and an intertrigo.
Therefore it is so important to dress the baby on weather and not to assume that he often was in stuffy rooms.
The wrong leaving during change of diapers
Non-compliance with hygiene when changing a diaper can also cause an intertrigo. The fact is that it is necessary to wash away the child even if skin looks dry and clean. And it is for this purpose better to apply the special children's soap having in structure:
- vegetable components;
- substances with antibacterial effect;
- the anti-inflammatory and healing components;
- the substances moisturizing and nourishing the skin.
If the diaper has to be changed where it is impossible to wash away the child, it is necessary to use wet towel wipes without fail.
Influence of food
With new food also the chemical composition the child's calla is changed therefore so often an intertrigo arises in the period of a feeding up. Changed under the influence of a concrete product of kcal stronger irritates the children's skin.
In the period of a lactation it is possible too, but in this case the child will react to the product eaten by mother.
Developing of an infection
They are not the prime cause of emergence of an intertrigo, but can be their direct consequence. But danger here that very easily externally to confuse a bacterial or fungal infection with an intertrigo: same reddening of skin, itch, burning and other similar symptoms.
The infection can be transmitted to the child if candidiasis is diagnosed for mother, or it accepts antibiotics during a lactation. In such situation it is important to remember that treatment of an intertrigo and an infection differs therefore it is necessary to descend to the doctor without fail.
Food intolerance
Emergence of an intertrigo is influenced also by laktazny insufficiency at which the child cannot digest maternal milk. In that case the baby does not have lactase, his organism cannot cope with milk carbons, and as a result of kcal becomes liquid, frequent and gets sour reaction.
All this causes fast development of irritation on skin, and as a result – an intertrigo.
As for treatment of an intertrigo, it is carried out as medicines, and changing approach to feeding of the child, his hygiene, if necessary change diapers for better. But it is necessary to remember that drugs are admissible only after a medical prescription. And only the doctor can establish the exact reason of emergence of an intertrigo.
