The name of the current user of the computer represents a name of the account from which work is performed. It grants the different rights for performing any given actions. To find a user name in the Windows XP system, it is necessary to come into the Application Data folder.

Instruction
1. As in the Windows XP operating system the Application Data folder is hidden, at first include display of the hidden system directories. To execute it, start the control panel, find "Properties of the folder", or, find this element in properties of any selected folder in a context menu. Then select the Show the Hidden Folders and Files parameter and install opposite to it a tick. In the Properties of the Folder window click the Apply button, then click "OK".
2. To find a user name, keep in mind that any account (user) which is created in the operating system has the Application Data folder. Because programs of the operating system are unpacked, as a rule, on logical disk C, the required folder will be located on the way of C: / Documents and Settings/user/Application Data where user is and is a required user name or the so-called account, for example, Alexander.
3. Look for the Application Data folder belonging to the administrator on the following path: disk C: / Documents and Settings/Administrator/Application Data. The shared folder of Application Data locates at address C: / Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data.
4. Enter directory path, having carried out a login to any folder and having specified path in an address bar, in the top part of the screen, then click Enter.
5. If you want to change a user name, on the folder to which it is necessary to get access, click with the right mouse button, select in the Properties context menu. Then in the opened window click on the Safety tab and carry out a chain "In addition" – "Owner" – "Change". Select the Administrators group or any name of the account, click "Apply", then OK. Install the Replace the Owner of Objects and Subcontainers icon.
