At an entrance to network of each user the Internet service provider gives to its connection a unique identifier - the IP address. To each provider the organization registering him selects such addresses with blocks, and information on that which of providers possesses any given range of the IP addresses is available on the Internet through the special WHOIS protocol.

1. The same base contains also other data on Internet service provider, including its geographic location. Thanks to such organization of accounting of Internet connections there is possible a definition of a geographical location to the IP address.
2. Use any web service for definition of a geographical location of the Internet connection having the IP address interesting you. There is a lot of them on the Internet as does not represent any complexity creation of the scripts doing on the basis of information of WHOIS requests entered by the user in the distributed database of the companies registrars. Such script can be placed even on the own computer. Many companies distribute the prepared databases which contain information doing unnecessary WHOIS requests - the geographical location of IP connection in this case can be defined even without having Internet connection.
3. Having selected the most suitable web service, pass to its page and enter in the respective field of the IP address form which geographical accessory interests you. For example, on the http://seogadget.ru/location page he should be taken in the field placed near the inscription "Enter Ip/domain". By default your own IP address extracted by scripts of service from the request of the page sent per your browser for the website server is placed in this field. If desired you can make sure that service is capable to define correctly a geographical location, having sent to the server at first the own IP address – for this purpose just click with the inscription "Went!". After processing of your request on the page the card with the settlement calculated by service and the indication of its name and the country will be displayed.
