How to view logs

In the Windows 7 operating system each event which happens to one of files on the hard drive is displayed in the relevant document, namely in "Event log". Start of this application is carried out via the console of management.

Instruction

1. It is possible to view "event log" through an applet "Viewing events". For start of this application it is necessary to open the Start menu, then to select "Control panel". In the opened window click on the line "Administration" and select the corresponding application from the list. Also start of this program can be carried out through an applet "Execute": click the keyboard shortcut Win + R, enter the eventvwr.msc command and click the ENTER key.

2. All events which take place in the operating system can be separated conditionally into system and program. After start of this applet you can see 2 categories: logs of applications and Windows log. In each of these categories there are files of events, i.e. log files. They locate at the following address: %sistemny papka%System32\Winevt\Logs. Instead of a system folder it is necessary to put path of C: / Windows or another.

3. It is possible to open log files by means of the text editor and also through an applet "Viewing events". For this purpose open the top Action menu and select the line "Open the Saved Log". Find the necessary file in the opened window, select it and click "Open".

4. Here it is possible to create the new directory in which you will place the necessary log files. Click "Create the Folder" and enter the name of the folder in the empty Name field. Click OK to create the directory and to close the current window. Future arrangement of a new directory — the section "Saved Logs".

5. To open a log file by means of the text editor, it is necessary to pass to the directory, to select the file and to right-click on the text document with the log extension. In a context menu open the section "Open with the Help" and select any text editor, for example, "Notepad" or WordPad.
