How to make cedar tincture
For preparation of tincture use whole nuts, only their kernels or a shell. There is a set of recipes, agrees some, nuts or their parts need to be crushed, but whole nuts are in most cases applied. Before use they need to be prepared – carefully to wash with flowing water, to remove hollow skorlupk, to drench 2-3 times with boiled water and to dry. Thus from a surface of a shell pitch which can give unpleasant bitterness to drink is removed. After these manipulations, nuts need to be filled in with vodka in volume ware and to put to the dark place with a temperature below room, but at all not in the fridge. Drink will be ready-to-serve in 30 days. It is daily necessary to shake up carefully contents, but it isn't recommended to open a cover. The standard compounding assumes such proportions: on one glass of nuts of 200 ml 1.5-2 liters of vodka fortress no more 40º undertake. According to more ancient compounding, capacity from dark material volume in half of liter, is filled up with the peeled nuts and up to the top filled in with a so-called pervach - very strong moonshine. Such drink will be ready in 10 days and has more saturated taste, but is much lighter on color. A set of recipes assume additives of various herbs, honey or sugar, roots of mint, cinnamon and even vanilla to taste. The expiration date of the tincture made on any compounding isn't limited to time frames. The taste of drink reminds cognac, as well as color, aftertaste oak. The course of treatment, as a rule, makes not less than a month. But without consultation with the attending physician it isn't recommended to apply cedar tincture.
