At cabbage there are a lot of wreckers. If to disregard process of its growth, mean insects will cause to harvest serious damage.
Means for fight against cabbage wreckers can be bought in shop, but experienced gardeners prefer to train them independently. Recipes of their preparation exists much, and they are selected depending on the noticed insects. The cabbage plant louse and cruciferous flea beetle are considered as the most widespread wreckers.
Cruciferous flea beetle – small insect, black, with silvery outflow. She eats generally young leaves of cabbage and is capable to eat three times more than the weight. If the flea beetle has struck cabbage, its leaves will be entirely the covered holes, then from them there are only rigid streaks.
That the wrecker has not ruined all harvest, it is possible to take such measures:
- Cabbage seedling immediately after disembarkation in soil is strewed with ashes. It will help, but for a while – for maintenance of effect it is necessary to evaporate cindery powder after each watering.
- It is useful to close young cabbage nonwoven cloth to close access for wreckers. It is possible to remove it several weeks later. When seedling gets stronger, leaves become rough and are already not so attractive to flea beetle.
- The cruciferous flea beetle badly transfers pungent smells. It is possible to use it and to add to the water of tens of drops of fir oil intended for watering. Before beginning landings in kitchen garden, on the ridge intended for cabbage land summer garlic. After it gives shoots and will begin to emit characteristic aroma, it is possible to place seedling on the earth.
- Weak infusion of chicken dung helps plants to receive amount of nitrogen necessary for them and will protect from flea beetle. Leaves will quicker develop, and the flea beetle will not be able to cause them significant damage.
The cabbage plant louse – greenish, generally she attacks absolutely young plants. About it it is possible to recognize by darkening of leaves and emergence on them black dots. Cabbage will die if not to struggle with plant louse.
What measures can be taken for disposal of the wrecker:
- Solution from 10 liters of water and 300 g of soap helps to cope with mean insect. To repeat processings of times a week.
- Spraying by complex infusion. For its preparation needs about one glass of soap, ashes and tobacco dust, on tablespoon of liquid soap and mustard. To place everything in bucket, to fill in with hot water and to insist within a day. Before use infusion is recommended to be filtered.
That wreckers did not spoil the landed cultures, it is possible to organize on the site of ridge with marigold, to put nasturtium. The plant louse and flea beetle do not love these plants. If the owner of kitchen garden does not welcome chemistry, it is better to struggle with wreckers by means of folk remedies. Attentive leaving and timely fertilizing will help to receive rich harvest.
