Humus – organic fertilizer which can be received in two ways. By pereprevaniye (decomposition) of manure of pets in half with plant debris and by composting of the vegetable remains (vegetable or sheet humus).

Instruction
1. The humus received from the decayed manure has the following physical properties. It is the homogeneous loose mass having friable structure and color from dark brown to black. Its specific weight, depending on the processed manure and amount of the peat humus used at preparation, fluctuates within 500-800 kg/m³. In one ten-liter bucket about six kilograms of humus are located. Sheet humus – from light brown till brown color. Its structure is more friable. Specific weight – is less.
2. All types of humus are rich with nutrients, well absorb and hold moisture. Its particles do not lose elasticity over time, when entering humus into the soil in it there are air gaps which help access of oxygen for breath of roots. Sheet humus improves any soils. It holds moisture and nutrients near roots of plants in sandy. Does heavy clay soils more friable and air.
3. The humus received from manure except improvement of the soil, enriches it with the useful substances necessary for plants for normal development. In sheet humus useful substances, in particular nitrogen, contain in smaller quantities. But in it there are a lot of other nutritious elements necessary for plants.
4. Both types of humus are necessary for garden and kitchen garden. But for bigger efficiency they need to be brought correctly. It is good to bring the rotted-through manure under autumn redigging, but not more often than every two years that was not in the soil of surplus of nitrogen. It is also possible to bring humus on bottom of landing holes, holes, furrows when landing seedling and saplings of fruit-trees.
5. It is the best of all to bring sheet humus superficially as mulch. Use of humus as mulch will create special conditions for soil microorganisms and hearts which will process sheet humus in top soil, turning it into nutritious humus. Under mulch the crust which extends moisture from soil is not formed of sheet and vegetable humus. The earth under it cools down and heats up more slowly that protects roots of plants both from strong heat, and from overcooling.
