Besides, because of universal use in calculations of a decimal system of calculation there are also decimal fractions. For the translation of numbers from a format of a common fraction in decimal there are quite simple rules.
Instruction
1. If the initial number is written down in a format of a common proper fraction, then for the translation it in decimal fraction just divide number in numerator into number in a denominator. For example, the proper common fraction 3/25 in a decimal format can be written down as 0.12. The difference only that the received number will always be more or equally to unit as the numerator in this case is more than a denominator is in the same way transferred to decimal fraction and wrong ordinary. For example, the improper common fraction 54/25 as a result of division will become decimal fraction 2.16.
2. The initial fraction can be presented also in a format of the mixed common fraction. In this case with a fractional part arrive the same as in the previous step, and add the value received as a result of division to the whole part. For example, the improper fraction 54/25 of the example given above can be written down in the mixed look: 2 4/25. As a result of division of numerator of a fractional part into a denominator number 0.16 will turn out, and after addition it to the two you receive final result of transformation: 2.16.
3. Not any common fraction can be presented by a rational number in a format of decimal fraction, that is its absolutely exact equivalent as a result of division of numerator into a denominator you do not receive. In such cases round result to the necessary number of signs after a comma. For example, it belongs to the simplest fraction 2/3. If necessary to present it in a decimal format about accuracy to the 100-th shares of unit the result of division should be rounded to value 0.67, and with an accuracy to thousand - up to 0.667.
4. If the result of rounding is not used for any applied calculations, then it is possible to use other form of record for a recurring decimal. In it the repeating infinite number of times - "periodic" - the number in brackets is finished to decimal fraction on the right. For example, the same common fraction 2/3 can be not rounded, and to write down in a decimal format so: 0.6(6).
