Thanks to rapid introduction of informatization in everyday life of the person, at least idea about fundamentals of computer science and numeral systems each school student has. But for many inscriptions in the computer like "1FEE" remain the mysterious code. Very few people represent what is a hexadecimal numeral system and for what it is necessary.
Concept of a hexadecimal numeral system
Numeral system, habitual for the person, – decimal. Its basis includes ten figures from 0 to 9. The hexadecimal system is distinguished by existence in it of the first six letters of the Latin alphabet for record of numbers besides the main figures. That is after figure 9 the A symbol which corresponds to number 10 for a decimal system follows. Respectively, F in a hexadecimal system is 16 in decimal. Information unit – bit. Eight bits form byte. There is such concept as a machine word is the unit of data representing two bytes, that is sixteen bits. Application
The broadest application of a hexadecimal numeral system are codes of errors of software products, for example, of the operating system. The numbers put in these codes are standardized. Having the special table, it is always possible to define what is meant by any given mistake. In languages of low level, as close as possible to machine codes the hexadecimal system is applied to writing of programs. Many programmers use it and during the work with languages of high level because numbers in this system by means of the special table of correspondences are easily transferred to a binary system on which operation of all digital equipment is based. Any information in the computer, whether it be the musical file or the text document, after broadcasting is submitted by the sequence of the source binary code, and it is more convenient to look through it presented by symbols of a hexadecimal system. Also one of applications of hexadecimal symbols – the description of color schemes, that is three R, G, B components are described in the way corresponding to this system. This approach to record received the name hexadecimal a tsvetvozmozhnost to check the program in the hexadecimal code allows to debug it, to make changes, and this approach is used by malefactors for breaking of programs.
