How to construct height by means of compasses

Height of a triangle is called the perpendicular lowered from one its top on the opposite party. To construct height, it will not even be required to measure corners. Quite there will be enough compasses and a ruler.

It is required to you

  • — sheet of paper;
  • — compasses with a slate pencil;
  • — pencil;
  • — ruler.

Instruction

1. You were given a triangle which height needs to be carried out. Let the top from where you should lower ayerpendikulyar, be from above, and height has to "rest" against the horizontal party. By the same principle you can construct also any of other two heights of this triangle.

2. Having placed a compasses needle in one of bottom corners of a triangle, establish the solution equal to length of the side adjoining to it, and make a notch from below from a triangle on free space. Try not to do it too short, but also to carry out the whole arch of a circle there is no need too. Pay attention: solution of compasses has to be equal to length of adjacent party, but not the basis of a triangle. Otherwise construction will not turn out.

3. Place a compasses needle in other bottom corner and change solution. It has to be equal to length of the second side of a triangle. Make one more notch below. Try that it crossed the first. Thus at you the cross from below from a triangle has to turn out.

4. Actually you carried out a task of creation of a triangle of three parties. Now you have two triangles — initial in which you had to carry out height, and the second, located directly under it and being its specular reflection. To within reflection these triangles will be identical, so, their heights lowered from the corresponding tops on the basis will be continuation of each other. Thus, having constructed the second triangle, you found the second point through which there will pass the straight line which piece is triangle height.

5. Carry out height by a pencil or the handle. Erase excess lines. Construction is complete.
