How to draw triangle height

Height of a triangle is a straight line which is drawn from one of its tops to the opposite side at an angle in 90 degrees. Any triangle has 3 heights. But depending on triangle type the creation of its heights has some features.

It is required to you

  • The sheet of paper with the represented triangle, a ruler, a pencil, the square.

Instruction

1. To draw height of any triangle from its top, at first define its opposite side. The opposite side for top of a triangle is the party which does not form a top corner. It is called to opposite this top of a triangle.

2. Place the square on the opposite party so that its party was to opposite at right angle. Shifting the square through the opposite party, combine it with top of a triangle and draw a piece between vertex of angle and the direct opposite side. The turned-out piece is triangle height.

3. In an acute triangle all tops are located inside, and height is carried out directly to the opposite party. But two parties of an obtusangular triangle do not form a perpendicular to the necessary top. To draw height of an obtusangular triangle, continue an opposite straight line out of triangle limits on distance sufficient for carrying out a perpendicular then construct height to the continued part of a straight line.

4. In a rectangular triangle two tops high its legs already are. Construct only height to top for which opposite side is the hypotenuse of a rectangular triangle.

5. If it is required, after creation of all three heights of a triangle note a point of their crossing which is called the orthocenter.
