How to find trapeze height a formula

The trapeze represents a quadrangle at which two parties are parallel among themselves. The trapeze is a convex polygon. To calculate height of a trapeze rather easily.

It is required to you

  • To know the area of a trapeze, length of its bases, as well as length of the average line.

Instruction

1. To calculate the area of a trapeze, it is necessary to use the following formula: S = ((a+b) of *h)/2, where an and b - the bases of a trapeze, h - height of this trapeze. In case the area and lengths of the bases are known, then it is possible to find height on a formula: h = (2*S)/(a+b)

2. If in a trapeze its area and length of the average line are known, then it is possible to find its height: S = m*h where m is the average line, from here: h = S/m.

3. In order that both ways were more clear, it is possible to give couple of examples. Example 1: length of the average line of a trapeze of 10 cm, its area is 100 cm². For finding of height of this trapeze it is necessary to make action: h = 100/10 = 10 smotvt: height of this trapeze 10 smprimer 2: the area of a trapeze of 100 cm², lengths of the bases are equal 8 cm and 12 cm. For finding of height of this trapeze it is necessary to perform operation: h = (2*100) / (8+12) = 200/20 = 10 smotvt: height of this trapeze is 20 cm
