"Wrong" call a special case of a common fraction - that its option in which the number standing in numerator is more than number placed in a denominator. The decimal form of record of fraction has a little general with irregular shape - it has no numerator and a denominator, but there are whole and fractional parts. Common fractions have one more way of record ("mixed") which is closer to decimal fractions as too has the whole and fractional parts. If it is necessary to do without calculator, then the mixed form can be used for simplification of the transfer of irregular shape of record to decimal.
Instruction
1. Begin with record of an improper fraction in the mixed form. For this purpose it is necessary to allocate the whole part, having divided without the rest numerator into a denominator. The received number is written before a fractional part in which numerator the remainder of division is located, and the denominator remains without changes. For example, if it is necessary to transfer an improper fraction 270/125 to a decimal form of record, then in the mixed form it will look as 2 20/125. In this step the whole part of decimal fraction was already defined, now it is necessary to find number which should be put after a decimal comma.
2. Find out whether there is a multiplier which will allow to lead a denominator of a fractional part of the mixed fraction to the number equal to ten built in any degree (10, 100, 1000, etc.). For example, for a denominator of the fraction received in the previous step, such multiplier is the eight as 125∗8=1000. If such number exists, then increase by it numerator of a fractional part (20∗8=160) and attribute it through a comma to the whole part of the mixed fraction which will stop being after that mixed, and will become decimal fraction: 270/125 = 2 20/125 = 2.160 = 2.16.
3. If such multiplier does not exist, then it means that in a decimal form this improper fraction has no exact equivalent and you should find approximate value with the necessary degree of accuracy. For example, if the initial fraction is equal 270/123, then its the mixed form will look as 2 24/123. A fractional part should be divided (in a column, in mind or by means of the calculator), and to round the received number to the necessary degree of accuracy. For example, rounding to the 100-th will give value 0.20. Having attributed it to the whole part, you receive value of decimal fraction, the corresponding initial improper fraction to within the 100-th: 270/123 = 2 24/123 ≈ 2.20.
4. If near at hand there is a calculator or at least the Internet, then for the translation of irregular shape of record of fraction in decimal it is enough to divide its numerator into a denominator. For example, for fraction 270/123 it can be done, having just entered into the field of a search query Google "270/123".
