Synthesis as logical operation

Synthesis is association of separate things. As logical operation it is carried out in different forms that depends on a scope of this process therefore it is important to understand value of synthesis and its types.

Value of synthesis

Synthesis is a purposeful process of association or connection of earlier separated concepts or things thanks to what something whole is created or new. It is way to collect whole of the existing functional things therefore it can be characterized as an analysis antipode. As creation of one subject or phenomenon demands special intellectual efforts, synthesis is logical operation in the course of which the logic helps to distinguish and to correctly unite the available materials.

Types of synthesis

There are many types of synthesis, in each of which the logic allows to achieve a goal. The simplest form of synthesis is a mental association in a whole of several parts which are received as a result of the analysis of sensual images. More irregular shapes of synthesis are connected with high levels of logical abstraction. For example, there is a synthesis of arts which can be characterized as reunion of some art forms in a whole. At the same time there are two types of synthesis: in one art form (for example, use of the comic text in the epos) and between art forms (creation of a screen image which cornerstone the scenario written based on a certain literary book is).

One more more irregular shape – logical synthesis in electronics. It represents process of receiving several connections of logical gates of abstraction of behavior of the logic diagram. Synthesis of specifications which are written in languages of the description of the equipment is an example of that. This synthesis is carried out by programs synthesizers which can optimize the project under various features of the device, for example, under temporary restrictions and the used components. The synthesis of the description happening at the level of logical tasks will widely be applied in the industry. At the same time the specification which is written in language of the hardware description can include synchronous and combinatory elements which form the operational automatic machine and finite-state machines capable to perform functions of the control device. In that case synthesis consists of two stages, on first of which the program optimizes the code, disregarding the used technology, and on the second the project is transformed already according to this technology. All this suggests that synthesis as logical process is an important part of modern progress.
