At the beginning of the past century nobody could assume that soon to replace traditional open razors and safety razors the compact and convenient electrorazor will come. 1. Future inventor of the electric razor Jacob Shik was born in 1877 in the American State of Iowa. For many years he carried out to armies where he served to the lieutenant colonel's rank. Quite often it was necessary to serve in severe winter conditions including on Alaska. Jacob Shik learned by own experience, how inconveniently is to use the traditional safety razor in cold season.
2. Long time Jacob Shik reflected on how it is possible to get rid of need to have a shave with a usual edge. For such shaving were required hot water and special cream that did the procedure of face care difficult in the conditions of camp army life. Suffering with the safety razor during treatment after a serious disease, Shik decided to think up a way of "dry" shaving by all means.
3. Chic steeped in invention. After long reflections and experiments he arrived at an idea that its future "dry razor" has to be put in action by means of an electric motor which could rotate shaving knives. The complexity was that at the beginning of the 20th century the most compact electric motor by the sizes exceeded the modern TV of the average sizes. It should be transported on the separate cart.
4. For several years the inventor worked on a design of the electric motor, suitable for the razor. As a result he managed to create the compact motor which was patented in 1923. At the same time Chic developed an optimum and effective design of the razor. It consisted of couple of knives, one of which was mobile, and the second strictly sat in the knife block. Hairs got to the cuts made in a razor head then were cut off by a mobile knife.
5. Chic provided for the razor and replaceable knives. They were stored in an internal part of the handle of the razor. Data remained that such design his own experience prompted to the inventor handling of a store rifle. Further the razor of Chic was equipped with special replaceable cartridges which were on sale separately.
6. It was necessary to find financial support which could provide release of electrorazors. It was a difficult task. Shik had to mortgage the house and to get into debt to receive the necessary sum. As a result in 1925 the inventor managed to create own production company which was engaged in production of electrorazors. The first devices for "dry" shaving designed by Jacob Shik came to broad sale in 1929.
