Generators will transform mechanical energy to electric. They are characterized by the output voltage and admissible load current. If bigger tension is necessary, it can be raised, but admissible load current will decrease.

1. When using the generator of alternating current for increase in tension it is enough to use the transformer. Correctly choose it: it has to be calculated on the same frequency, as the generator and to have suitable coefficient of transformation. Output voltage of the generator has to be such that it was not exceeded specified for the transformer of quantity of rounds volt.

2. Divide number of rounds of primary winding into generator tension - the result has to be more quantity of rounds on volt, specified in documentation to the transformer. Tension on a secondary winding will be to equally output voltage of the generator increased by transformation coefficient. Then it can be subjected to straightening and filtration. Constant tension at the output of the filter will be more than tension on a secondary winding by 1.41 times. Parameters of diodes of the rectifier and condensers of the filter have to correspond to the output voltage and current.

3. If the generator develops a direct current, in the beginning check whether it actually is the generator of alternating current with the built-in rectifier. It is possible to remove and connect it the transformer, and then to arrange after it other rectifier (if necessary - with the filter).

4. It is necessary to connect three transformers, and then the three-phase rectifier to the three-phase generator. Some generators are supplied with the collector rectifier. Then add to it the device for increase in constant tension. At the considerable capacities use the mechanical converter - an umformer (motor-generator). After it it is necessary to install the filter.

5. At the low powers the umformer is obviously superfluous. Use the device called tension converter. It consists of the device for transformation of tension from constant in pulse or variable and also the transformer, and in need of obtaining constant tension and at the exit - also the rectifier and the filter.

6. Vibration converters went out of use as each several hundreds of hours demand replacement of the mechanism. They were succeeded by semiconductor. They are single-cycle and duple. It is more expedient to apply the first of them at the low powers, the second - at averages. In some converters instead of transformers throttles are used, and tension increases at the expense of a self-induction. Such devices always single-cycle.

7. If loading has negative dynamic resistance, through it limit current artificially active or (only at alternating current) to reactive ballast.
