1. Preparing for a performance before public, think to what audience your message is addressed. Consider the interests of your listeners when choosing style, language, contents. 2. Having decided on audience, ask yourself a question: what purpose is born in itself by your message? Whether it is necessary to tell you about important discovery or just to entertain listeners?

3. Making a start from the purpose, choose methods. Whether you will strictly make out the report, displaying the announced subject in the accurate consecutive plan, or your performance will represent live dialogue between you and the audience? Choose a certain style, and try to adhere to it throughout all message.

4. Set message volume. Of course, at a scientific conference information has to be stated most fully and in detail, but you should not tire fans of fishing with the long and extensive story about the quantum theory of atom.

5. Remember that the first 30 seconds of your performance are decisive. During this time the viewer manages to solve for himself whether your story is interesting to him, and to create a certain attitude towards you as to the speaker. The first impression is very important, think over it to trifles.

6. Whatever was your audience, it will be pleasant if you mutter to yourself under a nose, to read to nobody on a piece of paper or to make long pauses. Rehearse the performance in advance. If it is necessary, make the plan of a performance not to allow long and awkward hitches.

7. Illustrate the message. You give examples, tell stories from life, support the report with posters, the presentation, evident things. Remember that it is simpler to person to remember images, than words and figures.

8. In cases when it is appropriate, dilute the report with humour. It will allow your listener to relax, like a little sympathy and trust for you.
