Alabay is rather large dog. Adult alaba can weigh more than 70 kilograms. For three-months puppies alaby does not exist any norm of weight - some puppies at this age can weigh 6 kilograms, others - more than 20.
Alabay is a native breed of the Central Asian sheep-dogs. Long since alabayev used for guard and security duty.
History of breed
Alaba - one of the most ancient breeds of dog. It was formed for more than 4 thousand years. The breed was widespread from South Ural to the Caspian Sea. Alaba conduct the history from the Tibetan shepherdly dogs and fighting dogs of Mesopotamia.
The Central Asian sheep-dogs were used for protection of caravans and houses, the cattle. Dogs contained under trying conditions, uncountable number of times entered fights with predators. Thanks to it, modern alaba gained the tempered character and improbable force. In the territory of the primordial dwelling alabayev use generally as guard dogs and for protection of herds from attack of wolves. Because of it in Turkmenistan, for example, the Central Asian sheep-dogs are called "the Turkmen wolfhounds". Along with horses of achaltekin breed they are considered as national property of Turkmenistan - evacuation of puppies alabayev from this country is forbidden.
Exterior of dogs
Alaba differ in the massive and wide head, a short neck and strong extremities. The color of the Central Asian sheep-dogs varies and can be white, black, red, pale-yellow, tiger, etc. Males of adults alabayev reach height in withers of 70 centimeters and more, females - 65 centimeters and more. The weight of dogs can reach 70-80 kilograms.
Weight of puppies
As a rule, puppies alabayev are bought at the age of three months. Their weight on this period of development can differ. Some three-months puppies of the Central Asian sheep-dog weigh 20 kilograms and more (even 26 kilograms for puppies at this age - not a limit). Sometimes, that the three-months puppy weighs less than 10 kilograms and externally it seems thin. But later alabay quickly gains the weight peculiar to breed. In a case with the Central Asian sheep-dogs it is impossible to judge build of a dog at such early age. Growth and weight in three months - a less informative indicator. Each puppy develops in own way. The main thing for alabayev - the balanced physical activity and good feeding. More informative indicator is the monthly additional weight of a puppy. Depending on leaving, even puppies from one dung can strongly differ in development. If at three-months age the puppy looks large, then in case of the increased physical activities by one and a half years the dog can look as a thin mastiff. And vice versa - medium-sized puppies at the balanced loading and good food easily grow to 75 centimeters in withers and 60-70 kilograms weigh.
