1. Consider small fishes in an aquarium. Find where there is an anal fin. It is located on a belly of fish, is near an anus, is the closest to a tail fin. This unpaired fin. At a female this fin has triangular shape, at a male it is turned off into a tube and is called "gonopodiya". This fin serves for internal fertilization as a small fish viviparous. On this sign it is possible to distinguish a gender of all viviparous fishes.
2. Some types of mollineziya (for example, at Mollienesia sphenops) males have slightly less females. At the same time there is a regularity: the male of subjects is more active and the more so it is capable to production of healthy posterity, than he is less by the size. At a sailing mollineziya the male, on the contrary, is larger than a female.
3. The adult male of Mollienesia velifera can be distinguished on the huge back fin similar to a sail. Fish also received the name from this fin — sailing. At the same time at a female a back fin the most usual, not especially big.
4. Be attentive in shop and in the market. Not always beautiful small fishes are capable to reproduction. Happens that the owner of an aquarium buys magnificent "mollineziya" at which pair fins come to an end with large brushes. Unfortunately, the anal fin comes to an end with a brush too. This fish — an industrial hybrid of the guppy and a mollineziya. She is called a guppineziya. This hybrid is sterile and to try to breed small fishes of this breed is useless.
