Rats are amusing and clever pets. They very much love the company therefore if you have no time sufficient for daily communication with the pet, they recommend to get couple at once.

1. If you are not going to breed rats, do not get at the same time a female and a male. Considering, how fast they propagate and as it is difficult to attach in good hands of an ordinary not purebred infant rat, in five-six months you receive the whole rat farm which will many cause problems. Or you will be forced to hand over the pets on a forage to reptiles. It is the best of all to get two females. It is not difficult to define a sex of an infant rat, since one and a half months.
2. If your rat already adult – it is possible to distinguish the boy from the girl even on appearance. Males are larger, more fat. Their body reminds pear in a form. Females smaller and graceful. Their fur much more softly also reminds a mink. Girls are more active and curious. Boys are quieter. Under a tail at an adult male are well noticeable two issued, oblong a small egg the size there is slightly less acorn.
3. To define a sex of a little infant rat, lift it for a tail. By the way, it is possible to take a rat for a tail only in extreme cases, it is quite big stress for an animal. Record an animal the second hand, accurately holding it for a skin over ears. So the infant rat will not spin, and you will be able attentively to consider him.
4. Pay attention to distance from a tail (anus) to an urethra opening. At girls they are located a row. The distance between them does not exceed 2 millimeters. At boys this distance is much more – about a half-centimeter. Compare several infant rats precisely to define their sex. If you have only one infant rat, and you find it difficult to define his sex, it is necessary to wait 2-3 months, until then, when there are obvious secondary sexual characteristics (see the second step).
