Den is called the place of hibernation of a bear. Experienced hunters can find it on the known signs. It is necessary as for special type of hunting which and is called "hunting on a den" and to know about the unsafe place and to bypass it in the time spent in the forest.

1. Bears do themselves a winter rookery in advance, since summer. They can lie down at roots of the fallen big trees, in hollows, natural caves, ravines. But usually brown bear digs a den independently. It has a narrow manhole and rather spacious camera with a low ceiling where, actually, and the predator lies.
2. Strangely enough, but bears can have a presentiment what will be winter. It is noticed that before cold winter the bear settles in a deep den, warming it as it is possible stronger. Before warm the bear can settle even on the naked earth.
3. In a den the bear trains leaves, a grass and a moss, and then dims brushwood and fir-tree paws. Experienced hunters know that usually near a bear den there are no traces any animals and even birds. Animals feel clumsy and avoid the place of its hibernation.
4. The animal often does "have a snack" near the place of the rookery, that is bite bark at trees and also a branch, usually at height of the growth. If you see otkusanny bark near any place probably somewhere nearby the bear sleeps. By the way, on these marks it is possible to judge also bear size.
5. The bear in the den lies a muzzle to an exit, and from continuous months-long breath (the bear usually does not change a pose during sleep) an entrance to a den (which is called the mouth or a forehead) and the next bushes and trunks of trees gradually become covered with yellowish hoarfrost. In the winter and on open space this hoarfrost is well noticeable, hunters determine by it a bear den.
6. Usually consider that for a den the bear always goes to absolutely deaf places far from human housing. However it not absolutely so, especially now when so remained places undeveloped by the person a little. Therefore the animal can lie down also near housing.
7. The person without experience will practically not be able to define in the winter where a bear den, only those who more than once saw how these places look are capable of it. Favourite sites are almost impassable forest places with a windbreak, trees, the boggy area, vyvorochenny with a root.
