2. It is the best of all to cover to a rat of an eye with a hand, then it will be nervous and twitch less. Surely place an animal on a steady surface - the main thing, never inject on weight. The intramuscular injection is given to a rat, as a rule, in a pad. Hypodermic it is usually put in withers.
3. Prepare the surface of skin for the procedure - wipe with either a spirit napkin, or the cotton tampon moistened in alcohol. Delay a paw of a rat and put a prick in the thickest part of a hip. You enter the syringe in the direction against wool, but be not fond: the needle should not enter too deeply. One more rule of introduction of medicine - do it slowly, in case of sharp introduction of medicine the animal can have a severe pain.
4. Under withers the prick is put in the same way, as intramuscular. Delay skin on withers and accurately thrust a needle. Do not forget about slow introduction of medicine. If on the place of introduction of medicine there is a consolidation, you should not be frightened. Massage this place a little, and consolidation will resolve independently.
5. Pay special attention to the choice of the syringe. Because the rat an animal of the small size, and amount of the medicine prescribed by her equals to the tenth shares of milligram. In this regard syringes also have to be small. As a rule, for pricks of this sort choose so-called insulin syringes. They thin in the case and in a needle. And it means that the skin of an animal will be less injured.
6. Do not forget to gain enough syringes in advance. It is connected with the fact that to rats usually appoint double or triple introduction of medicine in day. However some veterinarians claim that it is possible to use also the same syringe. But only in case you do a prick by one medicine and one rat.
