Hibernation – the certain state peculiar to some animals during which in their organism all vital processes slow down. It allows them to do a long time without food and to quietly endure hard frosts.

1. Among large animals bears fall into hibernation. For this purpose they since fall prepare to themselves a den, choosing the safe place in natural ravines, small cozy caves or at roots of huge trees. To be protected from cold weather, they warm the rookery a dry moss, leaves, a grass and fluffy fir-tree branches.
2. In addition, bears at the end of summer and in the fall eat much that by winter to reserve as much as possible subcutaneous fat. Otherwise in the middle of the winter the hibernation of this animal can be interrupted with strong feeling of hunger therefore on the wood the angry bear connecting rod will be unsteady. The distinctive feature of bear hibernation consists in insignificant fall of temperature of a body. Besides, it is quite easy to bring a bear out of this state.
3. Hamsters, chipmunks and badgers sleep in the winter, however their dream is also quite sensitive. And gophers can fall into hibernation not only in the winter, but also in the summer. In the latter case it is usually connected with lack of a forage. Also the raccoon-poloskun sinks into a long winter sleep.
4. At groundhogs the hibernation continues from 4 to 6 months, depending on climate of the region in which they live. During this time they do not eat, however each three weeks wake up approximately for 12-20 hours. Scientists explain it with need of stabilization of vital processes. Nevertheless groundhogs leave quite well-fed hibernation.
5. And here at hedgehogs, snakes and frogs body temperature decreases during hibernation quite strongly, and metabolism considerably slows down. Hedgehogs suit themselves deep zimovochny holes in the earth, snakes – in the soil are lower than a freezing zone, in deep cracks of rocks and under stubs. Frogs on a wintering are dug in in silt or dive into a pond. Temperature of their body becomes a little lower, than the environment that allows them to survive for several winter months. In the warm countries of a frog also fall into a seasonal condition of anabiosis.
