The twilight nocturnalism is peculiar not to many representatives of fauna. Them them badgers, hedgehogs and, of course, bats are the most known. The nature allocated these animals with all necessary for existence in complete darkness.
Certainly, the most part of all living organisms actively live and hunt only in the afternoon, and have a rest – only at night. Nevertheless, in the world there is a small group of the animals leading only a nocturnalism. Among them – representatives of a class of mammals.
What forces them to lead a nocturnalism?
The fact is that in night-time rivalry for production considerably weakens. But the weak competition is still half-affairs. For example, in desert places the night is more cool than hot day that, in turn, in addition stimulates all fans of night sorties to be engaged in the vigorous activity.
Besides, the night activity is the most suitable time for small and defenseless mammals (for example, voles and mice).
The most known mammals leading a nocturnalism
Badger
These representatives of group of predatory animals can be met in twilight, at night and at sunset. Some badgers living in deaf places sometimes leave the shelters and in the afternoon. Biological clock of these mammals is arranged in such a way that the sun should come as badgers immediately leave the holes in search of food. Into cold season these animals, like bears, sink into a winter sleep. In order that they were not disturbed, badgers hammer all exits from the holes with the earth and leaves.
Hedgehog
These are, perhaps, some of the most known twilight and night mammals of group insectivorous. The one who ever tamed a hedgehog in house conditions is perfectly informed on his night activity: characteristic footfall, snorting and rustling.
It is not recommended to cultivate hedgehogs! The fact is that these animals are messengers of the pincers constituting danger to the person (for example, an ixodic tick). Especially as these mammals practically do not live in bondage.
In the nature these small animals spend the whole light day in the shelters hidden from public eyes. Their minks can be both in secluded corners of the wood, and on personal plots. There hedgehogs for days on end sleep, having curled up in a dense ball. As soon as there comes twilight, hedgehogs wake up and begin night activity. In search of production they a patrol bypass own hunting grounds. The food allowance of these animals is made by frogs, earthworms, larvae of insects and a vole. In the winter hedgehogs fall into anabiosis.
Bats
Bats or wing-handed animals are exclusively night animals. If badgers and hedgehogs can be met in the afternoon from time to time, then there are no bats –. They spend the whole light day in caves, basements, abandoned houses – there where sunshine never get.
Bats are the only representatives of a class of mammals who are able to fly.
With approach of twilight the bats up in arm begin the night hunting. They eat small and large insects. In space they are guided thanks to a sound location. Bats make high-frequency sounds which help them to be guided. If on the way of an ultrasonic wave there is any barrier, then it is reflected in the opposite direction. The bat accepts the high-frequency signal which came back to her, understanding that it is necessary to replace the direction of flight.
