1. Guinea pigs are incredibly gluttonous small animals who eat much. The first that the owner of such small animal needs to know, is strictly forbidden products. Enter this list: canned food, meat products, potato, salty or fried dishes, beans, onions, bread and milk. This animal is a vegetarian therefore food from your table absolutely to them is not suitable if you, of course, want your pet to live quite long period.
2. It is worth remembering that guinea pigs are rodents. Therefore firm food has to make the main part of their diet. If to consider in more detail, then the approximate diet of your pet has to consist for 60% of hay, 20% of juicy forages and 20% of firm food.
3. It is necessary to take care of that in their cage there was always a hay, a forage and water. And here it is better to offer a juicy forage during walk, so only two or three times a day, the truth at the same time are allowed to give it. If it is very frequent to guinea pig to give juicy forages, it will badly affect her teeth. For this purpose in pet-shop it is possible to buy delicacies in the form of crackers, grain sticks or biscuits. In the form of juicy forages you can offer: apples, bananas, sheet salad, dandelion leaves, sweet pepper, tomatoes, beet or corn.
4. Feeding of a pregnant guinea pig requires healthy nutrition which differs from usual. At this time food has to be vitamin-rich also protein. At the beginning of their pregnancy the portions should be increased in a third. To the second half the volume of food needs to be doubled. It is impossible to forget also about liquid. Just before childbirth shade a part of a cage and put a drinking bowl there with the diluted milk or water as for couple of days before childbirth the female constantly thirsts. The pregnant guinea pig needs to give also forages vitamin-rich: carrot, seeds of wheat or beet. As liquid it is possible to use tomato juice or infusion of a dogrose.
5. Sometimes, that after the delivery the female has no milk at all therefore as mom you will participate. For bringing up of kids you need the medicine "Linex" and kitchen scales. It is necessary to feed babies each hour on one milliliter. Sometimes it is possible to feed each two hours, but then there will be a need for night feeding, but not less than two times. It is better to feed from the syringe for insulin, but without needle. For this purpose very accurately squeeze out on a droplet mix of cream and the medicine "Linex" on a finger and you watch that the kid pinched it. Do not forget that before food of little guinea pigs it is better to warm up cream to room temperature.
