Owners of unsterilized cats sometimes notice that their favourites after the delivery do not show interest in the kittens. There is a lot of reasons of lack of a maternal instinct, and depends on them whether it is worth trying to nurse kittens further.

1. The first, and one of the main reasons for which the cat can throw kittens - their frailty. Cats, as well as other animals, feel when costs or you should not fight for posterity life. Most often in such cases the cat initially does not lick a kitten after the delivery, does not try to feed and does not take care. Most often so happens only to 1-2 kittens from a dung, especially, if a dung big. Cats can sometimes suffocate an impractical kitten, it is caused by their instincts (in the wild nature the animals nurse and bring up only healthy posterity).
2. The frequent reason for which cats do not nurse newborn kittens are postnatal complications. In particular, such suffer or the primipara young cats suffering from mastitis or a metritis (in that case, it makes sense to carry at once an animal to the veterinarian, and to bring up kittens independently), or old cats at whom besides the maternal instinct becomes dull over time. In the latter case it is better for cat to make soon after the delivery sterilization – it will allow an animal to live longer and not to have problems with an urinogenital system.
3. It is also possible to carry hormonal deviations to the medical reasons. Sometimes soon after the delivery (within 1-2 weeks) at a cat the unplanned techka as a result of which she "forgets" about kittens begins. Only the veterinarian can help with such cases: it is necessary to make tests to exclude possible pathologies, to undergo inspection. Unfortunately, in such cases owners should carry out all obligations for bringing up of kittens (it is especially heavy as 1-2 week kids do not eat firm food yet and it is necessary to feed them with milk from a special bottle or the pipette).
4. Very often that the cat does not test thirst for kittens is influenced by people. For the giving birth animals a big stress is vanity around process. It is a lot of people, noise, light, constantly touching a cat and kittens of a hand – all this forces down the woman in labor from a necessary spirit, beats off a smell, and she does not feel kittens as posterity. In order that to avoid it, to put a box (lodge) for childbirth in the quiet dark place better, it is desirable far from children, and almost not to come nearer there till 10-14 in the afternoon after the delivery. It is also desirable not to let in the room with recently given rise cat of other animals (cats or dogs). It is better "to make habitable" the new place to a cat in advance, in 7-10 days prior to estimated childbirth to feel safe.
