Birthmarks happen different types and the sizes. They can appear because of change of hormonal background in transition period, during pregnancy or in view of natural aging of organism. Sharp increase in quantity of birthmarks during summer season, after suntan – absolutely normal phenomenon. In absolute majority they are safe. Nevertheless each birthmark under certain conditions can regenerate in malignant new growth – melanoma therefore it is necessary to monitor formations carefully.

1. Remember that solar ultraviolet is most dangerous to white-skinned, fair-haired and freckled people. At them the risk of regeneration of birthmarks in melanomas is very high. They should be in the hottest hours in shadow, not to leave whenever possible under direct beams of the sun at all. If it is impossible, cover body with clothes, you wear hat.
2. Any injured birthmark (hurt which has cracked rubbed is potentially dangerous). And also formations which constantly are exposed to mechanical influence, for example, concern them if they are located on such part of the body that it is constantly touched with edge of clothes or linen, hairbrush, chain, etc. If you on body have such birthmarks, it is necessary to see doctor. If there is opportunity, try to get advice at the narrow expert – the oncologist-dermatologist.
3. Regularly examine integument, paying special attention to any changes in birthmarks. Treat them: change of color and increase in the size of birthmark; inflammation, consolidation around new growth; painful feelings in the field of birthmark, including the naggers, or burning; emergence of small knots near the birthmark basis; skin reddening.
4. It is necessary to examine all body. Ask someone from relatives about the help to check those sites of integument which are difficult for examining independently.
5. At detection of the above-stated signs urgently see doctor. If the doctor suggests to remove birthmark – do not refuse. This removal is made in several ways, almost without serious consequences, and in most cases does not leave marks.
