- Distinguish four types of koklyushka: classical, spiral, hair curlers and shpilkoobrazny (pagoda). Classical koklyushka are used for creation of classical chemical wave, hair curler and spiral – for spiral, and pagoda – for corrugated. When choosing koklyushka it is necessary to consider not only their type, but also material of which they are made (better than plastics as the tree will absorb part of the structure applied on hair) and diameter. Small diameter of koklyushka is used for creation of small curlies, big – for giving to volume hairstyle. When turning hair on koklyushka, it is necessary to follow some rules. First, thickness of lock has to be twice less than diameter, and width to equal to length to koklyushka. Secondly, it is necessary to wind hair densely and exactly, delaying locks towards the person. It is impossible to move koklyushka forward or back, it is only possible to move slightly them in the parties.
- For turning of hair on classical koklyushka use tracing-paper of 4 by 5 cm in size Take the combed lock of hair of necessary thickness, impose tracing-paper on tips, then put koklyushka and hardly wind hair, and then fix koklyushka on the head.
- It is also possible to wind lock on two and even three koklyushka if length of hair allows. Turning on two koklyushka happens as well as on one, second koklyushka is inserted closer to the lock basis. Turning on three koklyushka begins from the middle of lock and goes to roots. The ends are divided into two parts and wound on the remained koklyushka diversely (one clockwise, another - against).
- It is necessary to wind hair on hair curlers as well as on classical koklyushka. After the lock is completely wound, the hair curler is bent in half so that roots have appeared in its center.
- It is possible to wind only long hair on spiralk and pagodas. Unlike classical koklyushka and hair curlers, the lock is wound in the direction from roots to tips. Besides, hair should be divided into equal small square zones previously. On spiral koklyushka the hair are wound on spiral, according to koklyushka relief, and on shpilkoobrazny – the eight. For this purpose pass lock throughout the center, round one half, again pass lock throughout the middle and round other party of koklyushka.
- It is possible to dispose koklyushka or equal ranks in the direction from the face to nape, or taking into account future laying from hair partings, or in chessboard order with alternation of diameter of koklyushka.
