1. On average pregnancy lasts 40 weeks that equals to 28 obstetric months (lasting 28 days), or to 280 days. In fact these terms keep within 9 calendar months, plus seven days. Therefore it is accepted to speak about 9 months of pregnancy. The birth of the kid on 38-42 week is considered normal if there are no signs indicating immaturity or dead-ripe stage of the baby. If the child was born after this term, then pregnancy is considered perenoshenny, otherwise – premature.
2. Obstetricians-gynecologists reckon pregnancy term from the first day of the last periods. Usually real term is 13-16 days less as conception happens approximately in the middle of a menstrual cycle, i.e. at the time of approach of an ovulation.
