Often parents face a problem when their child begins to study at school badly. At the same time many of them do not know how to motivate the child and what can be made or told to change a situation to the best and to force more attention to pay it to classes.
Instruction
1. First of all, it is necessary to establish the reason why the progress decreased. Start a quiet conversation with the child, avoiding censures and notations. Ask why he does not like to attend class and to do homework that does not suit it at school. Ask to show examinations or notebooks where the child made mistakes and because of what his assessment was reduced.
2. Do not criticize the child and you speak about concrete things. Praise for its achievements even if they will be insignificant. For example, if in his diary there are no two or remarks on truancies. It will give to the child confidence that his progress does not remain unaddressed, and, perhaps, he will seek to be at the best.
3. Do not compare the child to other children at all and you do not say that he concedes in something to them. Let know that its opportunities are much higher than those results which he shows. Give an example of one of its previous achievements. For example, remind him as well he solved some examples on mathematics or as it was praised by teachers for the written composition.
4. Prove to the child that bad notes are only result of lag on the program. See results of examinations and the checked homeworks and together find all mistakes. Ask the child what is given him most difficultly and suggest to do in the spare time with him to help to acquire material. Think up cheerful form of work which will not bother the child, and will become for him an interesting alternative of additional lessons at school.
5. Use the experience to find approach to the child and to let it know that to study it not only well, but also it is interesting. Remember the school days and think what on you would work and what help you would like from the parents. Remember the reasons for which you, maybe, did not want to study.
