To configure own house Internet gateway, you can use any computer. Existence of several free slots for connection of network cables or Wi-Fi of devices will be the only indispensable condition.
Instruction
1. If you need to create a local area network between the desktop computer with Internet access and the laptop, use Wi-Fi the adapter. It can be either the external USB device, or the internal adapter which is connected to the PCI slot on the motherboard.
2. Get Wi-Fi the adapter and connect this equipment to the computer. Install according to enclosed by the instruction the software necessary for setup. Include Wi-Fi the adapter. After that open in the computer via the Network and Sharing Center control panel. Select the section "Management of Wireless Networks".
3. Click "Add". Set a name for your future network. Select optimum type of safety from the options offered by a system. However in this case you can use also the Open type as to the adapter all of you will not be able equally to connect more than one device to Wi-Fi. For confirmation of the choice of other types of safety you should enter the admin password.
4. Contact settings of the wireless network created by you. Click "Properties", previously having selected point "The internet protocol of TCP/IPv4 (or TCP/IPv6). Enter into a line value of the static IP address, for example, 165.167.176.1.
5. Turn on the laptop and establish connection with the wireless network created by means of the adapter. Pass to setup of this connection. Select the following values for "The internet protocol of TCP/IP": - The IP address - 165.167.176.2 Subnet mask – is set by a system - the Main gateway - 165.167.176.1 DNS server - 165.167.176.1.
6. Open on the Network and Sharing Center desktop computer. Find the Access menu. Activate internet connection sharing, having selected a checkbox near the corresponding point. Select and specify a wireless network. After that activate connection to the Internet.
