The server administrator has considerably big powers, than users. It is possible to enter on the server as the administrator both remotely, and locally. In the second case it is provided big to safety as communication links are not involved.
Instruction
1. If you are near the server working running the Linux operating system and on its screen the desktop is already displayed, in the beginning complete the current session. The way of its end depends on what is started the graphic interface. For example, if it is KDE, press the button with letter K and a cogwheel, then in the appeared menu select the Complete a Session item and click "Complete the Current Session". Then in the appeared fields enter a user name of root and the password of this user. There will be a new desktop, and you will be able to start programs and to execute programs on behalf of the administrator.
2. On the server do the same with Windows, but after completion of a session click the CTRL keys - Alt-Del. Fields for input of the login and the password will appear only after that. Also consider that the root user in this OS is called not root, and "Administrator".
3. On the server with the Linux operating system at absence on it a graphic subsystem complete others current session (if it is open) the logout command in the beginning. Then enter root user name, and after it - the password of the root user. The same can be made also in the graphic interface, having started any terminal emulator, for example, rxvt, xterm or Konsole, but instead of the logout command it is necessary to enter login. Now all commands in this window of the terminal will be executed from root user name (from his name it is possible even to start the programs using graphics) while the desktop will remain the same.
4. Be not connected to the server remotely under the Telnet protocol at all. If the SSH protocol (text) or VNC is used (graphic), enter the login and the password in the respective fields of the client program. After that the input under the corresponding name will be automatic. In settings of the server there has to be permission to connection under the relevant protocols.
5. It is possible to enter as the administrator and the web server interface. At the same time you get access not to all functions of the machine, and only to all functions of "engine" of a forum, the website, etc. For this purpose pass to the website by means of the browser, and then click on the link "Input". Enter the login and the admin password. If it is about online store, the link "Input" for additional safety on the homepage can be absent. Learn its address from documentation to "engine".
6. Regardless of which in the way you entered on the server as the administrator, after completion of actions necessary for you do not forget to carry out an output. For this purpose in the text interface enter the logout command, in graphic - complete a session as it is stated above, and in the web interface - follow the link "Output".
