Correspondence in any clients for instant messaging is saved in special files. Depending on settings, these files can store both on the computer, and on a remote server. It is possible to find the history of messages in ICQ the following ways.
Instruction
1. Open the ICQ program and browse history by means of regular means of the application. For search of history of correspondence with the specific person open a message box, having selected its contact in the client's window. After that click the button with an icon in the form of the letter ""N"" (""history"" - history) which is located between a chat and the field for text entering. After clicking of this button the special window in which all correspondence with contact is kept in a chronological order will open (the newest message will be in the bottom). By means of this preview player it is also possible to execute search by the history of messages by any requests.
2. Start any file manager and come into the directory containing files of the client of ICQ. Any correspondence which is conducted in clients of ICQ automatically is saved in the special file of the .txt format which can be read by means of the text editor. For example, for viewing history of messages if it was corresponded by means of the QIP program, (which is an alternative client of the ICQ protocol) come into the folder located at the address C:\Program Files\QIP\Users\(UIN)\History. This folder contains all correspondence taking place to be. At the same time the name of each file corresponds to UIN of each contact, was corresponded with kototory.
3. Visit the official site of ICQ under own login and browse the history of messages saved on the server. On the server only the history of messages with those contacts which were specified in settings of the program is saved. To save history on the server, open a message box with the necessary contact and specify in settings "Save archive on the server". It is possible to make it, I use only the official client of ICQ.
