How to put the password on access point

Modern technologies allow to part the Internet on several computers at once, having connected only to one provider and not entangling all room wires. It can be done by means of the router. However that the speed of your Internet connection remained high, and it was safe, it is necessary to password-protect access point.

Instruction

1. At the majority of routers the possibility of protection of access is provided by the password. Configure this function along with setup of the router not to give to malefactors and chance to use your Internet.

2. To create access point with a possibility of connection to the Internet, follow the instruction. Attach to the router two wires - one from the carried-out Internet (it will remain in the router after the end of settings), and the second should connect it to the computer through LAN port. For this purpose use the twisted pair cable which, as a rule, goes complete with the router.

3. Before setup of the router save in the separate file or write out settings of direct connection of the computer to the Internet. For this purpose find an icon of connection to the Internet (is in the lower right corner and looks as two connected computers or the short flight of stairs showing the signal level) and click on it. In a pop-up window find the Network and Sharing Center tab in the bottom.

4. Click on this tab - before you the window reflecting all connections connected on your computer will open. Find a menu item in the left part of a window ""Change of parameters of the adapter"", click on it. Find an icon of connection of your Internet in a new window and open a pop-up menu, having right-clicked. Select the Properties bookmark, and then ""The protocol of version 4"". Rewrite all data from this window - they will be necessary for connection of the router directly.

5. Open your browser and enter router ip directly into an address bar. Enter the factory login and the password (they should be specified in documents of the router or in the contract with Internet service provider). Find the Internet Setup tab. Here you also should enter these settings which you wrote out.

6. Find the Security setting tab. Set a name for your access point and create the password for it. A little lower the Security Setting of Network tab where you also should write a name and the password for access point will be located and also to select data encryption type (it is recommended to WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK) in order that persons interested could not be connected to pick up the password. Remember that in the password it is better to use both numerical, and alphabetic data, in total not less than 6-8 characters.

7. Now, when your computer will find necessary connection, click on it. In the opened window enter the password. The Internet will be available only to you and the one to whom you will consider necessary to give the password.
