If you plan to make the blog, the website or online store probably you faced such concept as the website engine. First of all, the engine is a slang word which is used on the Internet, it is more correct to call it CMS. This reduced name is decrypted as Content Management Software ("the software for content management") or as Content Management System ("content management system"). Despite the difficult name, CMS facilitate life to many owners of the websites.

 


The engine of the website can be compared to the person. Engines for the websites, as well as people, there is a large number. Someone from people is able to consider well, another is able to draw beautifully, someone faster or bright, etc. Similarly and engines for the websites: one will be suitable for creation of the blog, another for online store, the third better - for creation of a forum, the fourth for a torrent resources, etc. In other words, the engine of a resource is his heart.


As you understood, there are many types of CMS. There are free engines with the open code which are used by many users, for them there is a set of different subjects, plug-ins, additions, etc. There are paid CMS with the closed code which are suitable for commercial purposes and the companies more. Many experienced programmers write engines, for own websites. Today in RuNet the following CMS are most popular: Joomla, 1C-Bitrix, WordPress, Drupal, etc.

 

Some time ago the websites consisted of static pages. I.e. if 100 articles are placed with you, it meant that you have, at least, 100 different files (pages). At the same time creation of these files, their filling of HTML the code needed to be made manually. Besides, these static files were saved on the server and occupied rather large number of disk space. In addition the speed of processing of static pages was low.

The engine of the website (CMS) is necessary first of all for dynamic interaction between the website and the user, simplification of work of the webmaster, the optimizer and the administrator.

The main advantage of a content management system of the websites is its functionality in respect of modification to ready content. Let's assume, you want to add a new form of a subscription of news or to change the code of a banner. If on the website costs CMS, you can make this work in a couple of minutes, at the same time it is unimportant how many pages are on the website - 100 or 1000. If you on the website have no engine, this simple operation will cost great efforts and will last for couple of days.

To select CMS, it is necessary to be defined what sort you will have content on the website. If it is want online store, it is better to use 1C-Bitrix, PHPShop, Simpla, etc. If you want to create the author's blog or the website business card, Joomla, etc. can be suitable for them WordPress.
