How to make snack from horse-radish in house conditions

This traditional Russian seasoning is irreplaceable in winter season. It perfectly supplements fish and meat dishes and strengthens immunity. It it is even possible to treat cold! It is elementary make horse-radish in house conditions. The only complexity arises when crushing a root. Here we will give a maximum of advice how to facilitate this process.

It is required to you

  • - a horse-radish root – 400-500 g;
  • - water – 2/3 glasses;
  • - a table vinegar of 9% - 4-5 tablespoons;
  • - beet – 200 g;
  • - salt – 2 tablespoons;
  • - granulated sugar – 2 tablespoons;
  • - glass jars with covers.


1. If the root of horse-radish not only that it is dug out, and lies long ago, then for certain it will be too dry. In that case it needs to be put for some time in water. Depending on dryness of a root, it is necessary to keep it in water from 5 to 24 hours. Long soaking is useful also for what allows to remove excess bitterness.

2. We peel a horse-radish root, carefully we wash out it and we cut pieces of average size.

3. Now it is necessary to crush pieces in the meat grinder to a condition of small shaving. It is the most problematic stage as the essential oils emitted by a root affect eyes and a nose more feasibly than onions. For this reason horse-radish can't be grated. The optimal variant is to use the food processor with the closed bowls or the blender. And if to use the meat grinder, it is necessary to attach strong to it a plastic bag on an elastic band – so that weight after scrolling gathered in it at once. It is possible to put the fan nearby – so that it blew off a smell in the opposite direction. It is better to work at an open window or at a balcony. It is possible to put on gloves hands.

4. We fill in root shaving with boiled water. Water shouldn't be a little – if to stamp shaving, then water has to cover it almost level with. We add salt and sugar, well we mix.

5. We clean beet, we wash out and we rub on a small grater. Through a gauze we squeeze out from it juice (1/4 – 1/3 glasses). We mix juice with vinegar. We add to horse-radish and we mix.

6. Carefully we wash banks with soda and it is sterilized, we boil covers. We display horse-radish on banks, we close covers and we put to the cool place or in the fridge. In 2 days it can already be used.
