Many gardeners and gardeners on the personal plot do a compost pit which serves for production of own organic fertilizers for plants. Whether it is possible to throw in it apples?

Compost represents organic fertilizers, received by decomposition of household waste of plant or animal origin. For its preparation use a grass, leaves, paper, newspapers, a sawdust and so on. The fertilizer received as a result of composting significantly improves fertility of the soil, promotes its loosening and increases productivity.

For preparation of compost on a personal plot it is possible to use an old barrel full of holes or to make a wooden box. Also in shop it is possible to get special plastic capacity for this purpose.

Under compost choose the shady place that compost ingredients didn't dry up in the sun. Further in a box or a barrel stack layers organic waste. Between them it is necessary to lay either humus, or peat. Such reception promotes fast decomposition of waste and improves useful properties of compost. At the same time it is necessary to alternate damp components to dry. Thickness of the layer consisting of green herbs and plants shouldn't exceed 25 cm, and household waste – 15 cm. At the same time manure, humus or peat stack a layer no more than 5 cm. Also through each 50 cm many experts advise to stack a layer of the fertile earth.

After laying of all compost, it is spilled surely hot water with addition of infusion of a chicken dung or a mullein. It considerably will improve rotting of vegetable waste. From above a compost heap is covered with a layer of straw or dry hay.

At the same time the sizes of a compost heap have to be in width about 1.5 m and in height not less than 1 m. Boxes or barrels in which prepare compost have to be blown by wind from all directions and have a set of openings for oxygen access. Correctly prepared compost will be ready approximately in six-seven months.

Whether it is possible to throw apples in compost

Very often on a personal plot a large number of a fruit drop appears. These are apples which the person doesn't manage to process and eat. Therefore there is such question: whether it is possible to use these apples for compost preparation?

Of course, apples can be used for this purpose. Only it is necessary to do it correctly. As at apples rather long full process of rotting, they are put in a compost pit for a long time. Such compost can't be used within one and a half years.

Also it is impossible to put unripe and green fruits in compost. It is necessary to use only the decayed and decayed apples. Only in that case they will bring the maximum benefit for compost and will accelerate process of rotting of other organic waste and the vegetable remains.

For preparation of compost it is possible to use also other fruit and vegetables: pears, carrots, onions, summer garlic, potatoes, pumpkin, squash, cucumbers and so on.
