Cement and sand mix: criteria of quality

Cement and sand mix – the universal building material made of portland cement, sand and additional additives which can be applied depending on purpose of solution. This kind of construction mix is applied during various works. The quality of repair of future room depends on its quality.

Types of mixes

With development of construction methods there was set of types of cement and sand mixes. It is possible to distinguish cement and sand plasters, masonry mortars from great variety of materials and peskobeton. The cement plaster is applied when processing concrete and brick surfaces. It differs depending on the size of filler and represents kind of cement putties with that difference that this type of plaster does not need additional treatment after drawing.

Masonry mortars are applied to installation of ceramic blocks, brick, various types of concrete, wood structures, installation of floor, reinforcing, etc. It is structure, ready to application, which provides laying of construction materials and durability of the whole design. Peskobeton is used at production of the floors having the increased strength characteristics. He becomes with use of various chemical additives allowing to increase material durability, and on the design he reminds fine-grained concrete more.

Choice of suitable mix

The quality of mix in many respects depends on the materials used at its production: sand, cement, chemical additives and also ratio of all these elements. The most successful proportion of cementing agent and sand – 1 to 3, i.e. on cement and limy basis with ratio 1 to 1 is added 6 units of sand. According to state standard specification, mix have various marking depending on durability and stability that is caused by quality of sand. The mix having marking of M-150 is capable to sustain loading up to 150 кг/см^2, and M-300 – 300 кг/см^2 respectively. However at material selection you should not be guided only by durability parameters since the this indicator is higher, the ability of surface to resist to the physical tension which arises in use is less. As a result – the risk of clinking in structure of the building increases. Moreover, in structure there should be no foreign additives and fillers, except of what this material is made.

The quality of the used material is also affected by weather patterns, inhomogeneity of mix at the wrong mixing and big differences in material thickness on which drawing is made.

When determining quality of mixes the mobility of material, its ability to water deduction, rasslaivayemost, temperature at which drawing, the average density and humidity is possible are also considered. Ability of keeping of liquid mixes have to have not less than 90%, and rasslaivayemost to have coefficient no more than 10%. Temperature of use has to be not less 10-15os, and the humidity should not exceed indicator of 0.1%.
