In former times in each family there was boiling extraction – big pan in which linen was boiled to return it initial whiteness. Today boiling of linen has stopped being need, but also in modern economy there can be situation when the hostess has to remember how it became.

1. Presently the range of cleaning agents is so various that even the most polluted thing can be made as new. Powders and washing gels, bleaches, stain removers, conditioners for rinsing – their application removes any dirt, does linen fresh. But together with it also the number of the allergic persons who are painfully reacting to all this chemistry grows. Good old boiling extraction can become for them the real rescue. It will make linen ideally fresh and without special additives.
2. But you do not hurry to climb on mezzanines in search of that huge pan. Perhaps, you have normal washing machine with the exposed temperature condition 90-95 °C. Washing of linen at such temperature is equated to boiling therefore just load the machine, and in 2-3 hours get from it fresh linen. Only make sure before washing that your things can be subjected to influence of high temperatures, recommendations about leaving can usually be found on the label sewed in one of back seams of product.
3. If you have aimed to boil linen in the old manner, prepare soap and soda solution at the rate of 6 l. on 1 kg. linen. Soap and soda (normal or calcinated) on 1 kg. products take 20-50 grams depending on extent of pollution. Put things in tank with solution, put boiling extraction on slow fire, bring to boiling. If to send things to already boiling water, dirt can be ready and wash it it will be much more difficult.
4. It is necessary to boil things 1.5-2 hours, periodically stirring slowly with tank contents then disconnect fire under boiling extraction and leave things to cool down until they cannot be got hands from hot water.
5. Linen needs to be shifted in trough or bowl with warm water, to wash off hands residual spots. It is necessary to rinse clean things cold water. The turned yellow white linen can be blued slightly at the last rinsing. It is the best of all to dry products after washing in the open air, the sun and wind will give them such aroma of freshness which you do not receive from use of any of conditioners.
