To hang up chandelier, it is not necessary to have special professional skills. However basic knowledge about household electrics nevertheless will be necessary for you.
For a start check whether you have all necessary to hang up chandelier. First, you have to have step-ladder or other steady support. Besides, some tools will be necessary for you: combination pliers, nippers, the screw-driver with tension indicator, the screw-driver with narrow sting and assembly clips (so-called "frogs"). Do not forget to take care also of that the room has been rather well lit, you will not be able to use lighting equipment during operating time. It is extremely desirable to stock up before works with small lamp.
Chandeliers are usually hung up on in advance prepared hook. It needs to be wound carefully with insulating tape or other material which is not passing current. It is desirable to put insulating tape not less than in two layers – for exception of uncovered surface. Be surely verified with the instruction to your lighting instrument and make sure that its use does not demand obligatory grounding. Otherwise it will be necessary to ground it.
Now it is necessary to start de-energization of the room. For this purpose it is necessary to switch off the time cut-out on the electric counter, and to check absence in network of tension the screw-driver indicator. On ceiling there have to be three terminations of wire (two ends – "phase", and one end – "zero"). The "zero" tip will be sent to assembly box subsequently, and "phase" - to the switch. All three ends are smoothed out (it is necessary to bare not less than 3-4 mm of wire) and get divorced in the parties so that they did not adjoin.
Now we need to define what of the terminations are "phase" and what – "zero". For this purpose we transfer the time cut-out to the included situation and we check the ends of wires the screw-driver indicator. On those wires where there will be "phase", the bulb will light up, on "zero" – no. It is desirable to mark wires not to mix them subsequently. It should be noted that modern wires do not need to be checked for staging: they have obligatory marking. Wires with "phase" are marked black-brown, and "zero" - blue color.
Chandelier wires can have the same marking also. Otherwise the staging of wires is checked as follows. Two wires are connected to the socket. Part of lamps has to light up, we mark wires which at this moment have been connected to network. Now we change one of wires for the third. In case the second part of lamps has lit up, the first wire is "zero", and the second and third (which were interchanged the position) – "phase". If lamps have not lit up, the wire which is taken out from the socket means is "zero".
Now it is possible to start mounting of chandelier. It is hung up on hook, and its "zero" wire connects to "zero" wire on ceiling. "Phase" wires also connect among themselves. Having checked work of chandelier for inclusion and switching off, it is possible to screw up protective cap which closes the connected wires.
