How to make larkspur

In joiner's business there are many options of fastening of parts among themselves. One of the strongest and therefore, the most effective by right is connection – "larkspur". Fixture is two parts in one of which thorns of special toothed form – "tails", and in another, respectively, grooves of the same configuration are cut. Among other things, "larkspur" at due execution not bad looks and is capable to decorate joiner's product.

It is required to you

  • - pencil;
  • - ruler;
  • - square;
  • - hacksaw;
  • - chisel;
  • - hammer.

Instruction

1. Connection has the increased durability at the expense of tension directed along part on which the thorn is sawn through therefore be defined in what part you will have "tails". The size and quantity of thorns depends on the size of the connected parts. Optimal variant of distribution is as follows: the ratio of average thickness of thorn to the average width of groove makes 1:2.

2. At edge of the first part draw from two parties the line at distance from face, approximately the same as preparation thickness. Move marking of the calculated distance between grooves to the center line, then plan arrangement of thorns. It is possible to make it by means of the angle meter. It is by practical consideration established that the optimum angle of inclination of thorn should not exceed 10-12 degrees. Now line contours of thorns on both sides of preparation.

3. Saw through hacksaw on lines which are planned then accurately choose as chisel thorns. In order that was not having chopped off, it is better to choose as chisel from two parties of preparation, that is at first choose on the one hand about a half of thickness, then invert part.

4. "Tails" are ready, now redraw them on the second preparation. Also by means of hacksaw and chisel at first saw through, and then hollow grooves.

5. Join ready parts, for bigger reliability of connection use a little glue.

6. "Larkspur" is also applied to connection among themselves of the parts lying in one plane (for example: frame facades, bathing doors, etc.). For this purpose in parts which need to be connected by means of end mill the groove is made. After that parts connect by means of trapezoid spline.
