Many fans of good sounding are impressed by articles about lamp amplifiers in popular audiomagazines. Branded amplifiers on lamps cost extraordinary much, mysteriously look thanks to poorly shining cathodes of lamps and in the assumption of music lovers in all population groups, the lamp amplifier can be made most and to enjoy refined sound.

1. Study the chosen scheme of the lamp amplifier. For receiving good sounding try to choose the simplest schemes, it is desirable without cathode repeaters.
2. Pick up the body for your future amplifier. You can independently make the body if buy the small sheet of aluminum 4 mm thick. Try to make the body with standard width of 435 mm for the most harmonious exterior with other branded equipment. Make the top panel of the sheet of aluminum, and the lower part of the body of plywood 10 mm thick. Depth of the lower box has to be approximately the 40-50th. Make the front panel of the amplifier of sheet aluminum and arrange on it the loudness regulator. On the top panel arrange transformers, condensers of power supply filters and panelk under radio tubes. From bottom side of the top panel arrange basic levels under radio components.
3. Paint the top panel in black color automobile gloss paint, and the lower part of the body, paint with varnish in imitation walnut or cherry, then polish it.
4. Remove network and sound transformers from the Surf amplifier. Of course, you can manufacture these transformers independently, but it will demand from you more means and time, than you will spend for search of the Surf amplifier, and the result will be approximately same.
5. Install panelk for radio tubes on in advance prepared openings in the top panel, and also groups of RCA connectors for connection to the amplifier of sources of sound signal and part of fixture of the body of the amplifier.
6. Install the transformer of power supply and sound transformers, make in the top panel of opening for wires of transformers.
7. Dismantle transformers.
8. Solder the scheme of the amplifier by method of hinged mounting. Carefully check correctness of mounting.
9. Install transformers and connect them according to the scheme of the amplifier.
10. Connect the regulator of loudness and fix the mounted amplifier on the lower part of the body.
11. Turn on the amplifier, let's lamps get warm within minute. By means of multimeter measure tension in check points, and also currents of anodes of all lamps. These values have to be approximately identical in both channels.
12. Connect to the amplifier of column and the player for compact disks. Check it for working capacity, and then, changing current of the anode of lamp of preliminary cascade, achieve desirable sounding. Do not exceed maximum current and power of the anode. Replace lamp of more powerful better. For example, the lamp 6N-23P can be replaced with lamp 6N-6P. The scheme of connection of electrodes at these both lamps identical.
13. After completion of works on control of sound, make and establish protective covers for transformers.
