The modern house is inconceivable without engineering systems which are in turn inconceivable without pipelines. Gas, hot and cold water, the heat carrier – all this is transported to our houses on pipes. Unfortunately, nobody can be insured from their break at which gas or water begin to fill the room, threatening with explosion or flood. It is necessary to work in this case immediately.
It is required to you
- – sanitary adhesive tape ("economic tape", "supertape", "the reinforced moisture resistant tape" and so forth);
- – PVC insulating tape;
- – collar for pipelines;
- – welding machine;
- – metal sheet 0.5-1 mm thick;
- – scissors on metal;
- – rubber gasket;
- – metalwork tool.
Instruction
1. Close up damage to pipe by means of sanitary adhesive tape. For this purpose reel up several rounds of adhesive tape at some distance (10-15 mm) from opening and then continue its winding with effort to pipe on spiral in the direction of opening. Reliably to block damage to pipe it is required to impose several layers of tape.
2. Sanitary adhesive tapes have the big durability, glutinosity, moisture resistance, heat stability (up to +70 °C) and are capable to sustain pressure in several atmospheres. As temporary means can use also normal insulating tape of PVC, however on the qualities it significantly concedes to sanitary adhesive tape and it does not do for sealing of pipes with hot water.
3. Reliable way of seal of openings in pipes are the repair collars representing steel or plastic band with joint sealing insert. If you have such collar, exempt its ends from gearing with each other, having turned out bolt or having nominated him from fixing groove, dress collar with laying on pipe in place of failure, connect edges of collar and tighten bolt. The collar should be imposed so that damage was at an angle a little more, than 90 ° in relation to clamp bolt. In this case on damage the greatest pulling together effort is necessary.
4. If in availability there is no sanitary adhesive tape and collar, make the last independently. For this purpose cut off from metal sheet strip 20-40 mm wide (depending on the amount of damage). Length of strip has to be more than length of pipe circumference on 30-40 mm. Bend flat-nose pliers of edge of strip (20 mm from each edge) at an angle 90 °. Preparation has to take form of letter "P". Using pipe as template, with effort round around it strip, having given it the form of collar.
5. Drill in regiments of collar opening for clamp bolt. Insert rubber gasket 2-3 mm thick in collar. Dress collar on pipe in place of failure and tighten bolt. If the collar is made correctly, it will provide quite high quality of repair.
6. The steel pipe can be made electric welding – in case the pipe is not under pressure. Before starting welding, protect place of work from surrounding designs with metal sheet – for prevention of the fire and causing damage to cover material of wall and floor. Connect the earth terminal to pipe and carry out tea leaves of place of failure.
