How to provide care for begonia

Begonia – beautiful ornamental plant which can be pleasing to the eye the blossoming even in winter time. There are more than one thousand different types of the begonias differing from each other in form and coloring of beautiful buds and also leaves. Provide to flowers the correct and timely care.

It is required to you

  • - soft water; - peat dust; - drainage; - pot; - humus; - sand; - sheet earth; - cespitose earth; - peat; - vessel with water; - liquid complex fertilizer.

Instruction

1. Maintain optimum air temperature indoors where there is pot with flower. It has to be about 18-20 degrees of heat, however the short maintenance of begonia at temperature of 12-14 degrees will not affect exterior of plant. At contents at lower temperatures the plant can die. Begonias are not exacting to fresh air, but regular airing of the room will only strengthen flowers.

2. The begonia is capable to consume large amount of water therefore it is recommended to support the soil in damp state. But you remember that top layers of substrate have to be dry before each watering. The excess of humidity in pot will lead to emergence of fungi and decay. Try to water accurately begonia, do not get on leaves. For this purpose use the soft, warm and in time to settle water. The flower is very exacting to air humidity, does not love spraying because of what on leaves brown spots are formed. Put near pot vessel with water which evaporation will support optimum moisture content.

3. This species of flowers categorically does not love when intrude upon leisure and rearrange pot from one place on another. The plant perfectly feels on windowsills which come to the southeast or the southwest. It is better to contain begonias nevertheless in the light room, but protected from influence of direct sunshine. Even short stay of plant in the sun is capable to lead to severe burns of leaves.

4. Replace flower every two years (young plants should be replaced annually, in the early spring). For this purpose you need the easy, friable and nutritious soil and also good drainage. You can use the following mix: two parts of the sheet earth, one part of the cespitose earth, one part of peat, same amount of humus and one third of part of sand. If you buy mix in shop, add small cut peat dust to the soil. Feed up the blossoming plant special complex fertilizer once in two weeks.
