Royal begonia, or begonia Rex – beautiful plant with smart leaves of the most various form and shade. Looking after begonia, the main thing is to follow some rules, and then the plant will pay back with colourful and diverse color palette, juicy and abundant foliage.

1. First of all the royal begonia needs sufficient lighting. If light will be not enough, coloring of leaves considerably will fade. Though direct sunshine are contraindicated to plant – they can form burns on its leaves. Put begonia on east or western window – there where the half-shade is observed. Temperature in the room should not exceed +22os. You watch that air in the room constantly was fresh, but it is impossible to leave plant on draft.
2. In summertime it is necessary to water begonia it is abundant and evenly. Draw special attention also to air humidity around bush. As decorative leaves of begonia can become covered by ugly brown spots because of hit on them of water, it is better to place pot with flower on pallet with the humidified moss or haydite. As the option can be put the container with water nearby and to add it in process of evaporation.
3. In winter time it is impossible to fill in plant too strongly as it can dump all the leaves. You watch that it did not stand too close to cold window, and its leaves have not got under stream of hot air from the battery. In such conditions the roots will not get warm and feed plant, and leaves will be twisted and will dry up. As a result of such stress the royal begonia will be rehabilitated very long.
4. It is regularly necessary to dust big rough leaves of plant dry rag, but it is necessary to work carefully as it is easy to break them. Royal begonia it is necessary systematically – to feed up complex mineral fertilizers once a month. However the plant needs to be watered at first, and then to introduce the divorced fertilizers. Otherwise dry roots can suffer from the brought fertilizing. The begonia well reacts also to organic chemistry: dissolve the rewandering cow or horse manure with water in proportion 1:5 and after a while you will be able to notice how your favourite flower has become straight and has gone to growth.
5. Every year replace royal begonia in new pot, and each 3-4 years plant need to be rejuvenated, implanting new shanks instead of old. As soil special mix will be suitable for begonias, and it is possible to prepare it and independently, having mixed the sheet and cespitose earth and also coarse-grained bank sand and peat in equal shares. It is not forbidden to dilute this main structure with pieces of pine bark, vermiculite, sheet or cespitose humus. Do not forget about drainage, and choose pot for begonia wide, but small. Such will suit its root system.
