All species of cabbage belong to cruciferae family, and they are the biennial plants giving seeds only for the second year. To form them, cabbage has to pass all way of development from cultivation of seedling before blossoming. Instruction
1. Pave the way. It is extremely important that on this place cruciferous 3-4 years did not grow. If the soil since fall has been fertilized by humus or manure, introduce nitrogenous fertilizers at the rate of 3-4 g on each sq.m. of bed. If in the fall fertilizers were not introduced – bring in the spring the compost earth. On fresh manure it is not recommended to plant cabbage, it will give excess green material and will badly form heads of cabbage.
2. Plant seedling of white cabbage on distance not less half a meter – for early grades, 75 cm – for mid-season and 1 m – for grades of late term of maturing. The chess order of jumping of seedling is preferable. For disembarkation early morning hours are more shown. As the option – can be landed and in the evening, but only in case the threat of night frosts passed. After landing it is abundant water, surely using the water breaker plate.
3. You loosen cabbage row-spacings. For the rest care for the young seedling planted on the constant place comes down to waterings. Once in two weeks spray plants with any infusion from leaf-eating insects. For example, it is possible to use onions or garlic peel and also orange peels. That and another is the good protectant. If suddenly the attack nevertheless has happened, remove caterpillars with hands and examine the lower sheets of cabbage, cutting out places with the laid eggs (they bright yellow color).
4. Feed up vegetables of times a month dung water. For preparation of this fertilizer on 50-liter barrel of water put 20 kg of fresh manure without straw, cover with polyethylene, tie, leave to wander. At sunny weather on it 5-6 days will leave. Then use for fertilizing at the rate of 1 l of slush on 6 l of water. Pour out about 2 l under each bush. Also once a month fertilize cabbage wood ashes. Contains in it many mineral substances which are well influencing development of plant.
5. Note heads of cabbage with most expressed high-quality signs. In the fall when harvesting time comes, carefully cut off them and move in the dark cool room – best of all cellar. There they should be laid in boxes with clean dry sand and to leave till spring.
6. Examine uterine heads of cabbage in April-May (depends on the region), rejecting sprouted or at what decay is noticeable. Cut out cabbage stumps from good heads of cabbage, leave them in cellar for week that the cut has managed "to be healed". Then land to the open ground. The soil has to be filled with humus and superphosphate, and here nitrogenous fertilizers at this stage are undesirable. Approximately in 2-3 weeks the cabbage will give flower escapes, and in month – the ripened seeds.
