Orchid – one of the most beautiful flowers which does not cease to admire eye with the grace. However this plant categorically does not love change and endures this procedure rather painfully.
It is required to you
- - special soil for orchids;
- - transparent pot (with openings in day);
- - haydite;
- - wood or activated carbon (it is possible to replace with cinnamon);
- - sharp knife.
Instruction
1. to replace orchid only after the end of the period of blossoming of plant is recommended, and one every three years is not more often. It is possible to determine by external signs more precisely when the plant needs change: - if in the soil there is unpleasant smell of compost and mold and also smell of rotten leaves; - in pot free space was formed, substrate has accumulated (if pot transparent, it is possible to consider dense and packed sites); - the gray, begun to rot sites of roots are visible (healthy roots have green or reddish shade, sometimes white).
2. Orchid roots very brittle therefore try to minimize risk of damages. For this purpose well humidify plant before change, it will help to separate easily roots from capacity walls. If the orchid grew in clay pot, it is necessary to work (accurately separate roots from pot walls wooden stick). Much more simply the situation with plastic pots is.
3. After you have successfully taken plant, wet it in warmish, otstoyanny water. At the same time roots completely will become wet and old substrate easily from them will separate. If on roots there were some pieces of bark which keep strong, it is not desirable to tear off them, better leave. While the plant soaks, prepare substrate.
4. When old substrate separates from roots, examine them attentively regarding decay. Remove the died-off parts by means of sharp knife (at all not with hands) up to living tissue. Dry all made cuts and powder wood or activated carbon for disinfecting.
5. On bottom of the prepared pot of slightly large diameter fill haydite layer, then part of the prepared substrate. Accurately place plant in pot and gradually powder with the soil before uniform filling. Do not stamp strongly substrate, it will be reasonable to cover it with moss.
6. After change put pot with orchid about the darkened place and periodically spray around it air. It is recommended to water 1-1.5 weeks later.
